So here are my current excuses:
1 -My Favourite Things Infinity Scarf - a neighbor, quite unaware of the project I was working on, bought me 150 Scandinavian Knitting Designs for christmas. However, a few other more pressing projects have come up so my scarf is now on hold - as is my ripple blanket (due to the fact that someone ate my 3.5 mm bamboo crochet hook! three possible suspects were in the room at the time, two of which are goldfish, so my money is on this guy)...
"what me?" |
3 - Whilst picking out the yarn for the Milo, Tino chose some bright sock yarn for himself. There's not really a deadline here but as soon as I cast on he'll be following me around asking "are they nearly done yet?"
Also started a pair of basic socks for a good friend who's having a rough time of things at the moment and needs cheering up, this project should really take priority don't you think.
And, if that's not enough to be getting on with I've signed up with Ysolda for a mystery kal. I found the yarn I want to use, will just have to hope it arrives on time for the first clue on Jan 13. But I've got a funny feeling I'll be playing catch up.
I also have a FO since my last yarn along. This great hat from the Taproot Issue 8 :: Reclaim.
I used some Phildar Laureate mohair/acrylic yarn from my stash and it knitted up so quickly and is so toasty and warm. Definitely a christmas-gift knit idea (oh lets not talk about christmas knitting in January, please!)
Forgot to take a pic of my book but I'm reading Death Comes to Pemberley, a follow on to Pride and Prejudice, by the great crime fiction writer P D James. Only just started so it's hard to comment but I'm expecting good things!
Linking up with Ginny, what are you knitting and reading this week?
I am glad I am not the only one who has cast on loads post Christmas projects! Yours look and sound lovely the only problem is choosing which one to devote time to.......
ReplyDeleteThat knitting is beautiful. Puppy is soooo cute too. Love the hat. I had to borrow the one I crocheted for Hubby to shovel out one end of the drive yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed that you are taking on the "My Favorite Things" cowl. I love this pattern, and it's sitting in my favorites in Ravelry waiting for me to be brave enough to take it on. Maybe someday... Can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteLaughed at you suspect who ate your crochet hook. He does NOT look so innocent. P.d. James is one of my fav authors, too.
ReplyDeleteYour projects are beautiful! I, too, would like to knit "My Favorite Things". It would be my first colorwork. :)
ReplyDeleteyou have been a busy busy knitter. love the scarf. i have toyed with trying that out myself. yours looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou are knitting a lot at once!! One of our dogs ate one of my knitting needles a couple of weeks before Christmas.. just as I was finishing up a gift that needed to get mailed out the next day. I ended up making a post-dinner run to the craft store.....
ReplyDeleteYour scarf looks amazing!!
WOW!! you are busy!!!! (my favorite things scarf is on hold at the moment, too---sort of lost the love; yours is much prettier than mine!!!)
ReplyDeleteAnd I have a suspicion I can guess the culprit...who looks sort of like my #1 suspect when I find chewed 'tools'. Dick, the goldfish, has never been accused, either.
Yep - my money is on puppy for the hook chewing win. How can you get mad at that face though? I love that bright colored sock yarn. I might have to go and get me some of that.
ReplyDeleteWow, love your knitting, live your pictures, love your pup, love your taste in authors! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of projects! The scarf with the motifs is my favorite by far, though.
ReplyDeleteI love your colorful scarf, and what a cute pup! Your hat looks good too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Dead Comes To Pemberley, but did watch the first episode on SimplyJune.org last night and am looking forward to the 2nd tonight!!
I feel you on the sewing machine. It's just not as easy as knitting! I love your scarf. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fair isle! Visiting from Yarn Along!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Sheila

It may very well have been your dog, but how could you be mad at a sweet face like that?! Wonderful list of projects!
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful knitting projects on the go… I love the scandinavian pattern. I can understand why you can't find time for sewing! I love P.D. James and have that book waiting for me on my bookshelf. I will be interested to find out if you like it...
ReplyDeleteI started My Favorite Things a year ago. It is still sitting in its bowl. Once I finish this blanket I may need to get back to it!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely photo of you and puppy emma, it's so nice to see you! beautiful knitting!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of you and the suspect! My goodness you are so busy with many projects on your needles. I read that book some time ago, very good.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
That is one beautiful dog...despite his affection for bamboo.
ReplyDeleteYou have been so busy I can't see your singer getting much use for a while. Hope you enjoy your book I watched the TV adaptation over Christmas in the uk it was very good x
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - your pup is adorable. When my dogs are naughty I tell them "It's a good thing you're cute..." Hard to stay mad at them for very long.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful knitting! If you can do that, of course you can do an icelandic sweater like mine;)
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see that scandinavian knitting is getting so popular!
It has a special place in my heart, I love our old traditions of knitting and our traditional clothing!
I am putting you on my reading list of blogs, I am definitely coming back here! Thanks for your kind words to my sweater!!
Hi Emma, noticed you asked on another blog about patterns for baby socks, I can recommend Cozy Little Toes on Ravelry, I made a few pairs last year and they definitely stayed on!
ReplyDeleteLove the beanie. I am a newbie knitter. At the moment I am just finishing some cotton facecloths to use in our new home. Reading wise, I just started to reread "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak last night.
ReplyDeleteYour favourite things infinity scarf is just amazing, I am completely smitten by it, well done!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how procrastinating about one thing can lead to so many other things?!
ReplyDeleteYour Scandinavian knitting looks incredible and I love that you're knitting socks to cheer someone up - lucky friend xxx
The time for sewing will come...
Glad you are enjoying your Infinity Scarf too. I did not do the provisional cast on either so in the end I did the Kitchener stitch to close off both ends of the tube then just sewed the two ends together, it seemed to work ok. We still have lots of snow here too (Eastern Canada) but Spring will come eventually I hope.
