Isn't it Ironic...

... that the sweater I took apart, due to it being to small for me, ended up by getting 're-knit' into something, which if not actually too small, is a little 'snugg'.

This Shalom, when knit according to the pattern, is worked on no°7 mm needles, but my re-cycled yarn was too thin for this size needle and necessitated me going down to 5 mm.  I twigged pretty early on that it was going to be a bit small but I didn't realise how small!  However, I did wear it on Sunday and both my S.I.L and Sylvie my cousin complimented me; Sylvie suggested wearing it almost like a shawl over a strappy summer dress but I don't want to wait that long so I'm wearing it now over a long sleeved T.

The button was part of a set I bought 6 years ago in the Jura, with no particular project in mind.  They have since served, strung together, as a baby toy and and easy sewing project for Rémi, who, a while back took to cutting holes in his clothes!!  I told him he'd better learn to sew as I had no intention of replacing willfully damaged goods. He's recently changed direction, taken up hairdressing, and given himself a jagged basin cut.

Whilst on the subject of Remi's head.  I had to make some alterations to his Canadian flag headband as it got 'bigger' after a few days wear.  I know it's called 'seed' stitch but I didn't actually expect it to grow! but it did and kept slipping down over his eyes, well at least it covered his crazy hairdoo!
After seeing so many wonderful 'Milo' vests on various 'yarn-along' posts I have started one for Tino.  This yarn was given to me a few years ago, minus all the labels, so I have no idea of the name, make etc, but I like the way it knits up.  And I think I will have enough to make myself the Lispenard Cowl, the pattern for which I won last week on Angelina blog.

Just finished the 3rd book in the Little House on the prairie series and I enjoyed it as much as the first two.  I didn't watch the television series when I was younger, I was more of a Walton's fan,  little did I know of what I was missing over at the Ingalls place!!
Linking up with Ginny again this week and Thanks to Lori I finally got me that button!!

  1. We love Little House books (and DVD's) here too. It's the reason I planted turnips in my garden the first time gardening.

  2. I've knit the shalom and just as yours, it turned out a bit snug. I still love to wear it though, it adds just the right amount of warmth. The Little House series is one of my favorites, too. :-)

  4. I like how your Shalom turned out. It looks really good over the long sleeve T. PS - the library thing? I sneak out when my husband is home and the boys are getting ready for bed and choose books for myself and them as well. They usually have a list going of what they are looking for, so I pick up what I can. Makes the trip quicker, and quiet too.

  5. I like how your Shalom fits, and I think it looks great over the long sleeve t-shirt. I would wear mine like that, although I'm going to add sleeves I think!

  8. Emma, I noticed your comment, said you had decided on the lavender necklace. I just wanted to let you know that the discount code is set to expire on March 1, but I have never done one before, so I don't know if that means at midnight when the day starts, or at midnight when the day ends. Just wanted to let you know so you could still get the discount in time, since the order hasn't come through on etsy. The code is GRAND2012. Of course...if you changed your mind, then just disregard this comment entirely.

  9. I would wear that over a summer dress and pretend it is not snug at all! I really love it. I am reading the Little House book to my boys when they bath, and feel as if I am doing my part for their (and my) assimilation here. (I grew up on the Waltons, we did not have the Little House option. "Good night John Boy. Good night Mary Allen." Loved it.) Have fun with the Milo!

  10. I think the sweater looks great. Too small or too big... I have those sort of knits as well. When things are custom made with love, it's easy to overlook the mistakes. (I say that as nearly everything I've knit has turned out way too big for my littles - almost to the point of it being ridiculous! It makes me laugh...)
    Have a great week!

  11. I remember the shows being back to back - how we loved to watch both of them - waited for them to come on during the week. The shalom is small, but still wearable. Love your son's hat. He looks right at home with all that snow.

  13. I really like your shalom, especially the flecks in the yarn! I knitted this pattern last year and wear it all the time..and have even been contemplating lately knitting another in a brighter colour.

I'd love to read some of the Little House books..we watch the dvd's here - my daughters love them and there seems to be season after season at our local dvd hire shop, perfect for cold afternoons or hot, hot school holidays! :)

Just need to put up the picket fence and we will be ready for her and Twig. Now if she has 2 babies, I am asking Jesus!!!!!!!! It's name will be Leaf. I love those names and can see a children's story all ready swimming in my head.

Have a blessed Worship day! Love you bunches, Linda
