Yarn along - Ballybucklebo

Yeh, it's Yarn along time again over at Small Things.  This week I have a bit of a knitting delema; This scarf has been in my W.I.P basket for quite a while now and I starting to find the pattern a little monotonus, so I can either stop now, with the piece measuring approx 70cm, and have myself a 'neck warmer' OR slogg along untill it's 'long' enought to be a scarf.

On the other hand 'Irish Country Doctor' is definitly anything but monotonus!  Set in the fictious village of Ballybucklebo, Ireland, a young rookie Dr finds himself working with the giant beefy ex-rugbyman Dr O'Reilly,  who demomstrates daily to his young protogé the importance of an 'old-fashioned' bedside manner and experince!

  1. I hate when things get tiresome, I always end up with shorter scarves than planned for this very reason ;) I think, based on the shape of it, I would recommend carrying on (sorry, that's not what you want to hear, is it?!) I think it'll be worth it in the end though.

  2. It looks lovely - but I can easily see how it would be monotonous! I'd agree to carry on, tough as it can be.

  3. It is very pretty, finish, finish! Then you can get shake off the unfinished guilt and move onto something you love.

  4. It is lovely but I have found that life is too short to 'slog along' through any project. There are too many other patterns out there I want to knit. In fact, come January first I will end up frogging unloved projects. But then, I am probably much older than you are so you have PLENTY of time to finish this lovely scarf. :-)

  5. P.S. Forgot to tell you that I picked up the Irish Doctor book last week and perused through it. I will definitely be reading it in the future because of your great reviews.

  6. The scarf is very pretty and delicate looking. I say keep going, even if you have to knit, put it down for a while, and knit again!

  7. I would say keep going to, but maybe look at it as next years scarf? That way you have lots of time to keep going back to it. After all, you're always going to need a scarf.......
(say's she who has been knitting sock number 2 for 8 months now!).

  8. I'm glad you like the book! I suggest you put down the scarf and start something new until you're ready to go back to it. I've gone back to projects years later when the mood struck me. Who cares, right? You shouldn't have to force yourself to do something creative if you don't feel like it. : ) Unless you really want a neckwarmer instead of a scarf...... : )

  9. I would keep plugging away at the scarf. Even if it means having to set it aside when it gets to be too boring.

  10. You scarf is lovely. I was knitting a shawl a while ago, I got tired of knitting it, so I left it for a while and went back to it a year later. It's finished now and I love it:) This book sounds wonderful, I think I must buy a copy.
    Love
